Hope in Balance

Youth impacted by trauma often carry invisible burdens—heightened anxiety, chronic stress, and emotional overwhelm that make everyday moments feel unmanageable. Hope in Balance was created to provide a pathway toward healing by introducing youth in foster and residential care to tools that promote self-regulation, build resilience, and foster a deeper sense of self-worth.

Through trauma-informed practices like mindfulness, movement, and breathwork, youth learn to reconnect with their bodies, calm their nervous systems, and cultivate inner strength. Each session creates a safe, supportive space where healing can begin—not through words alone, but through movement, reflection, and the steady presence of caring adults.

Finding Calm, Building Strength

For youth in residential care, life can feel overwhelming—filled with unpredictability, emotional highs and lows, and few safe outlets for release. Hope in Balance offers a restorative space where youth can pause, breathe, and reconnect with themselves through trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness.

Each session is designed to help youth build self-awareness and self-regulation skills by tuning into their bodies, noticing their emotions, and learning how to respond with intention. Through grounding movement, breathwork, and calming techniques, youth begin to cultivate emotional resilience, reduce stress, and regain a sense of control.

Programming is offered weekly or bi-weekly in 12-week segments throughout the school year, creating consistency and rhythm that are especially important for youth in care. Occasional summer sessions are also held to extend access to calming, healing practices year-round.

Led by certified yoga instructors trained in trauma-informed practices, every class prioritizes safety, choice, and belonging. With the support of social-emotional learning (SEL) assessment tools, we also measure growth in key areas like self-management and emotional awareness—ensuring that healing is not only felt but tracked over time.
